Band Camp!
This is like weeks later and only now am I posting up my Band Camp experience. It was surprisingly
fun!ThursdayEveryone arrived at school around 2.00 pm. We found out that the band room was still locked so everyone dumped their nags on the ground and loitered around. It looked as if we were all taking a trip around the world as almost everyone brought really big suitcases.
After registration I found myself in Durian Griup.
Which was SO ironic as I hate Durian!Group Members:- Me!
- Christine
- Stephanie
- Bernedette
- Judith
- Ruth
- Ernie
- Kelly
- Gabrielle
Facilitator: Lip Yi!
They opened the Band Room - after what seemes like forever melting in the heat outside - and asked everyone to dump their luggage in the KH room. After that, we all migrated to the Band Room for briefing and
'Ice Breaking'.
They also handed out the rule...
No. 6 Partying after lights out is strictly prohibited LOL!
During 'Ice Breaking', we played charades. Evelyn had to imitate Shrek. My favourite had to be when Steph had to make us guess 'Dead Man's Coffin'. She didn't know how to imitate
'man', so she made it seem as if she was a guy masturbating! While she did that, Kher Ching got the wrong idea and yelled out
'PENIS! And so the whole band burst out in laughter!
After charades, we were asked to go outside with our groups and think of our band cheer. Steph was voted as group leader while Chris was voted as assitant group leader. They won by a landslide.
Break Time was pretty disappointing as I was always looking forward to band food. This year for Break teacher only gave us Milo.
Teacher: Milo tastes better during camp!
Soon after we had band practice with Mr. Marvin. He gave us 4 new pieces and Evey was assigned to play her Bass Clarinet. The whole clarinet section said that she had betrayed them for she now sits with the tenor saxophones!
Saxophones Rule! After that we had dinner. Dinner was really good. We had
CURRY!After dinner, we had to play
'Night Factor'. This game was suppose to teat us on our phisical and spiritual strength. It was suppose to help us think more clearly and make the right choices.
Lysandra made it sound so scary before we started so alot of people backed out before the game even started. They tied our hands behind our backs, blinded folded us and also taped our mouths. Then they would bring us around the school and try to scare us and ask us questions to test us.
Before the game started, Evey said that I would really have to go to the toilet and back out halfway.
IRONICALLY, before I even got too far into the game, I had to quit because I really had to go to the toilet! Out of the whole band, only two people quit because they really needed to pee! Me, and Sarah!
After 'Night Factor' ended, we were suppose to clean up before lights out but I was lucky enough to go home!
FridayI was suppose to wake up early and make it to 'Morning Exercises' at 6.00 am then attend marching at 6.30 am. Unfortunately,
well more like fortunately, I couldn't wake up. So instead, I decided to just attend breakfast instead. As if God was out to get me, I missed breakfast for they finished marching early! *sigh*
After that we had sectionals and band practice. All the other students still had to go to school so only the Band Members enjoyed spending their day having fun in the aircon room.
After what seemed like forever, it was time for
Station Games!' We were given clues to figure out so we could proceed to the next station. Whicever team finished fastest and collected the most points would win.
The stations:1.
Beth:We had to slide down a big canvas sheet - with soap and water on it - and get wheelbarrowed to a container of beans and pick out two different kind of beans while they yelled questions at us. Chris was so smart to pick white and we ended up picking our barley beans!
Which are extremly small compared to green beans!Beth: I like their wet asses!
2.
Erica:We had to carry a wet sponge tied to our hands and fill up a bottle then 'fish' it and bring it back to the bucket where we will pour the water out and start again.
We really sucked at this station3.
Amanda:We had to carry a 'Smartie' on a spoon in our mouthes and carry it over a maze of nylon string, climb over uneven stacked chairs and put it into an unbelievably small container. We did pretty well on this station.
4.
Ginny:They hung a banana to the soft ball goal and we had to poke toothpicks into the banana.
With our mouthes. They had to carry me cause I was too short to reach the banana. We couldnt touch the banana so Steph and Judith had to hold the banana in place with their forheads while eveyone else poked it into the banana. After a while, banana mush started flowing out onto Steph's forhead.
5.
Elaine:This station was easy and fast. We just had to figure out which egg was raw.
6.
Lysandra:This was our last station. We hand to line up in a line and carry a sheet of newspaper and pass a rolled up peice to each other by transfer. The last person at the line - me - had to throw it into a bucket. This game was suppose to be played with water ballons but they ran out of ballons so we used rolled up newspaper instead.
After we finished, we realised that we were the second team to finish. So the first team - Red Team: Tomato Group - and the second team - us - had to play tug-a-war. As soon as we got into position, we pulled!
and the rope broke! So instead, one representative from each group had to blow a ballon till it popped. Again, we got second. Val, from Orange Group blew the biggest ballon but it refused to pop so their team got last.
After we finished, we went to go take a shower. As I wasnt staying over, I decided to jus rinse of by the hose in front of the band room.
Then, dinner came! Evey was so hungry that she ate 2 packets of rice. It was again pretty good. Then we had band practice again, before
'Chill Out!'During 'Chill Out' we performed our Group Cheer and also did a fashion show for our bandanas that we designed for our group!
Our Group Logo!
Our Bandana! After that I went home!
SaturdayI made it in time for the morning activities this time. First, we had punishments for those who broke their potato chips - this year we had potato chips as pets. Some of the punishments were funny, like, seduce the water cooler or propose to the first person you see.
After that we had photo taking session and the RC had their telematch. I saw Peter - the second guy I've ever had a crush on. Who knew I had a crush on him - for the first time in 2 years. Taking a deep breath and draging Val with me, I finally went over to say Hi.
After that we had practice for a while then break!
During break a few of us went to watch the telematch. I saw Peter get mud thrown on him. I also saw Julie for the first time in 2 years. She looked so different!
Then we had band practice again. After practice, we surprisinglyhad a spot check and was quarantined in the KH room while they checked throught all our things. Someone had stollen someone's Blackberry.
After that surprise, we had lunch then clean up time.
When the parents arrived, we had our performance and then it was time for Prize Giving!
Durian Group won for best Group Cheer and best Fashion Show.!
YAY!But all things have to come to a close. So we went home!
And
that was this years Band Camp experience! It was so much better than last years experience. I
HATED Band Camp last year - the comitee last year was crap as well. I actually didn't even want to come back this year but I'm glad I did.
